God of examinations,
literature and protector.
Zhong Kui (Chung Kwei)
“ I am Zhong Kui of Zhongnan, I have vowed to exterminate all demons in the world”.
Zhong Kui was worshipped by travellers as a protector against the evil spirits who were believed to haunt the roads.
Zhong Kui is the Daoist god of examinations and literature. He is often used in Daoist celebrations to represent success in scholastic exams. In Feng Shui it is advised to invite him into your home on the 5th day of the 5th month. He may be placed near the front door or near the entrance, or at the foot of the stairs to symbolise protection.
