SP006 - Sau
Deer
A
talisman for health and longevity
Deer are universally
considered benevolent symbols associated with dawn, light, purity
regeneration, creativity & spirituality. In China deer are believed
to live for more than a thousand years and are therefore a powerful
symbol of healthy long life. Deer are often depicted with Sau, the
Chinese deity of longevity. In Native American and other traditions
the stag's branching antlers are seen as representative of the sun's
rays, the Tree of Life and, through their shedding and regrowth,
symbolise longevity and regeneration.
The design of
this talisman is derived from ancient Chinese calligraphy from c
.2000 BC.
The pendant
is cast in lead-free pewter, coated in copper, then nickel, then
silver. Hand-polished and lacquered to prevent tarnishing.
